Omelets is one of my favourite breakfast foods. But how do you create them perfectly? I have tried many different recipes and methods, but none of them work. So I wanted to share some tips and tricks so that you can make delicious, fluffy omelets every morn.

Before we start making omelets, let's remember that eggs are temperamental. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. You must keep them cool enough to allow the whites to form properly and the yolks to become too runny if they're not kept at the right temperature. This will make your omelets appear strangely colored. It is best to use room-temperature eggs if you are going to cook them right away.

You can also separate the egg before you add it to the pan. It is important not to allow any white to mix with the yolk as this could lead to the omelet becoming curdled.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, heat the egg for 10 seconds in the microwave before placing it in the pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Next, let’s talk about mixing the egg. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. Turn the bowl upside down and grab the whisk to do this. Now shake the bowl vigorously. By doing this, the egg is thoroughly mixed with the air in the bowl.

The fun part is now - adding the milk to the mixture. First, pour half of the milk into the beaten eggs and then fold the eggs gently into the remaining milk. Do not be alarmed if there are still egg streaks visible. Once the omelet flips, these streaks will disappear.

After you have folded the eggs, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil has started to sizzle, turn the heat down to low. Once the oil has gotten hot, add 1/4 cup of butter and swirl it around so that the entire pan is coated. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Once the omelet has formed completely, cover the pan and let it set for a few minutes. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the second side for a minute or so. Remove the omelet from the pan and serve immediately.

This recipe is best made with whole milk. However, it can also be used with skimmed milk.
